For rehomed dogs who need help settling in

Perfectly Imperfect Rescue Dog Package

I know from experience that adopting a rescue dog can sometimes be an overwhelming experience!

They probably haven't had the best start, and you just want to give them a better life - but it's not as easy as it sounds.

This training package is designed specifically for rescue dog owners who want to get to know their dog better so that they can help them adjust to their new home.

Anita Twigger, Founder of Pawprints Dog Rescue

"Rosy is clearly an absolute asset to dogs, and in particular, to rescue dogs. We at Pawprints Dog Rescue are so very lucky to have her support."

What does the package involve?

  • An initial 60-minute 1:1 training session at your home where we discuss your goals and start working on the foundation skills your dog will need to achieve them

  • Two further 60-minute 1:1  training sessions either at home or ‘out and about’ where I provide in-person coaching as you and your dog practice your new skills

  • A written training plan with clear step-by-step instructions on how to do the exercises so you can easily remind yourself of what to do and track your progress

  • Advice on how to help your rescue dog adjust to their new life and how to build a strong relationship based on trust and understanding

  • Ongoing support via WhatsApp and email until 4 weeks after the final session in case you have any questions or want feedback

  • No one-size-fits-all solutions - I take a behaviour-driven approach to training, which means I help you figure out why your dog behaves like they do so we can address any problems at the root

  • An in-depth, structured programme focused on making lasting improvements to your dog’s behaviour rather than unreliable ‘quick fixes’

  • Kind, ethical training methods focused on rewarding the behaviours we want rather than punishing the ones we don't

Perfectly Imperfect Rescue Dogs will be perfect for you if...

  • You want to get to know your rescue dog better so you can figure out what training goals are realistically achievable for them and how to get there

  • You understand that rescue dogs often come with ‘baggage’ that can mean training takes a little longer, but you’re willing to take the time to get it right

  • You’ve tried all the usual methods but they’re just not working, and you need help from someone who understands your dog

  • You’re committed to teaching your dog the skills they need using kind, force-free methods

  • You want to work with a qualified professional who will offer you compassionate and non-judgmental support

It won't be a great fit for dogs who...

  • Are extremely anxious or fearful

  • Are showing signs of aggression or 'reactivity' towards people or other dogs

If this sounds like your dog, see the FAQ below.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered here, please click the button below to send me an email.

What methods do you use?

I only use kind, ethical training methods that focus on rewarding the behaviours we want and using management to prevent those that we don't.

All of my training is free of force and intimidation. I firmly believe that training based on punishment not only causes dogs unnecessary stress, but also damages the relationship between you and your dog.

My dog is aggressive/extremely fearful/'reactive'. Can you help?

Unfortunately I'm not taking on dogs with severe behavioural issues at the moment (but keep your eyes peeled for updates!) – I would advise that you seek the help of a clinical animal behaviourist (CAB); visit the ABTC website to find a CAB near you.

My dog is a puppy/teenager/adult/rescue dog. Is this training suitable for them?

Absolutely! I cater for all ages, breeds and personalities.

Where are you based?

I am based in Leamington Spa, but will travel up to 45 minutes for training sessions.

What happens if I’ve finished my package but I need more sessions?

Once you’ve come to the end of your package we’ll review your progress and you’ll have the option to book top-up sessions if necessary.

I’m not sure I want to commit to a full package - do you offer one-off sessions?

Unfortunately I don't offer my rescue dog service as a one-off session as I believe the best results can be obtained by purchasing the full package. However, you can book a one-hour taster session for any of my other packages - just fill in the booking request form and select ‘Taster Session’ under ‘What service are you interested in?’. After the session you will also receive an email pointing you towards some useful resources.
